Masonry is both an art form an a science. This is why the experts at Lake Stone Paving take a great deal of pride in their block paving projects If you are considering a garden renovation, it is a good idea to appreciate some of the options at your disposal. One increasingly popular technique is known as circular block paving. What does this process entail and what type of results can you expect? Let’s take a closer look a one of our most recent projects in Lancashire.
Basic Preparation
This project first required us to level the existing surface through the use of a rock aggregate topped off with compacted soil. This is critical in order to ensure a smooth and level surface; helping to avoid problems such as pooling water or drainage complications.
Design Considerations
We consult with the client throughout the entire project, as this enables us to appreciate his or her unique desires. In this case, we used a herringbone block pattern in order to provide the area with an aesthetically pleasing edge. We then created a circular pattern which was used to accentuate the curved borders of the patio. This also provided a unique centrepiece that would not have been possible to achieve with more traditional methods.
Laying the Inner Stones
Once the herringbone pattern was completed, our artisans focused on the central circular pattern. The circumference was lined with stones of different colours so that a sense of visual depth could be achieved. Interestingly enough, the centre of the circle was not filled in with traditional masonry. We instead chose to utilise turf, offering up a standalone organic appeal.
Finishing Touches
The borders of the patio likewise incorporated the same coloured blocks; contributing to the uniformity of the entire project. Keep in mind that while some paving techniques are rather automated in this day and age, the only way to ensure second-to-none levels of precision in terms of circular blocks is to put each piece in place by hand. This guarantees superior levels of quality and no unsightly gapes will be present. Once all of the blocks have been laid (the herringbone pattern and the inner circle), we clean the entire area of any dirt or debris that may have remained. So, customers can enjoy a truly pristine example of ole-world craftsmanship.
When Quality Counts
Circular block paving requires precision and an eye for detail. This is why it represents one of the most stylish options at your disposal. Whether you hope to reinvigorate an existing driveway or you desire a garden patio that can be used throughout the year, this is a great alternative to consider.
