Burnley Block Paving Project

One shining example of this talent can be seen in a Burnley block paving project. What issues did we face and what techniques were subsequently employed?
A Ground-Up Renovation
The existing front garden essentially consisted of nothing more than an old walkway flanked by grass on either side. Of course, this was partially due to the fact that the area itself was rather small. The customer nonetheless wished to upgrade its entire appearance in order to transform the property with a decidedly luxurious touch. This is why the first few steps involved removing the old walkway, grass and nearby shrubbery.
It was then necessary to compact and level the subsoil with the help of a layer of sand. This sand was reinforced with a wooden border; adding a nice punctuation to the periphery of the garden. These borders also served to keep the sand and brickwork in place.
The Installation of Block Paving Stones
There are several reasons why block paving stones were selected for this project. They appeared similar to the exterior of the home and they helped to visually “break up” the garden surface. Block paving stones are easy to maintain and unlike some other surfaces such as poured concrete, cracks will not present an issue. We chose an alternating brick pattern bordered by a row of darker stones. Thus, the final surface mimicked the brickwork of the home’s facade.
From Drab to Demure
Although this project was relatively small when compared to some of our other undertakings, it is often said that the most beautiful things come in the tiniest of packages. This is particularly relevant when dealing with an urbanised area associated with homes in close proximity to one another.
