Bury Block Paving and Patio Project
There are times when the expression “out with the old and in with the new” is perfectly relevant in terms of an exterior home renovation. Not only can this approach provide a much-needed functional facelift, but it will often increase the value of the property itself. One perfect example of such an approach can be seen in a recent project undertaken by the team at Lakestone Paving. Let’s take a closer look at how were able to transform the entire appearance of this Bury home.
A Bit Worse for Wear
The garden of this home was primarily defined by a series of old and damaged block paving slabs. These served as both a patio and a driveway, so the tended to dominate the entire exterior. Unfortunately, the stones and surface had seen better days. Not only did the weather take its toll, but many of the slabs have suffered from subsidence over the years. This is why the customer contacted our team members in order to appreciate the different options that were available.
The Use of Block Paving Stones
After an in-depth on-site consultation, it was decided that the most logical solution was to replace these slabs with a series of new interconnected block paving stones. There are several reasons why block paving stones are some of our most popular solutions. These include:
- Block paving stones can expand and contract at their own rates when the temperatures change. This helps to prevent cracks from forming.
- Block paving stones are available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colours.
- Patterns can be chosen based around the preferences of the homeowner.
Of course, we also needed to perform a fair amount of preparation. The existing slabs were removed before the ground was compacted and levelled (providing a solid base for the subsequent stones). We decided to employ a herringbone pattern to provide a sense of depth while simultaneously complimenting the exterior walls of the home. The end result was truly stunning to behold.
An Entirely New Personality
Patterned block paving stones can easily transform the ambience of any property. Let’s also remember that they require relatively little maintenance and they can last for decades at a time.
