Patio and Fencing Project in Rossendale
We are all aware that many regions throughout England are associated with harsh weather conditions on occasion. Unfortunately, this will often take a severe toll upon elements within a garden such as fencing and walkways. Lake Stone Paving fully appreciates how frustrating it can be to view a garden that appears exceedingly worse for wear. This is also why customers choose to work with our team when they desire to transform the entire appearance of their property. One recent undertaking in Rossendale helps to illustrate what you can expect when consulting with industry professionals.
In Need of a Change
The existing garden was in a slight state of disrepair. Not only were the block paving slabs damaged, but common landscaping issues such as weeds and overgrown grass needed to be addressed. Furthermore, it was also decided that the fencing needed to be upgraded. This is why we spent a significant amount of time discussing the different options with the customer. A clear and informed choice could thereafter be made.
A Multi-Faceted Project
It was decided that large sandstone paving slabs would be used to replace the existing concrete elements. This also provided a much more uniform appearance when compared to the previous design. These slabs would then be complimented by landscaped grass and a wooden privacy fence (sometimes referred to as “lockboard” fencing). The light tone of this wood was intended to accentuate the unique tones of the sandstone slabs; tying the entire garden together with a unique sense of visual synergy.
Still, we always address the notion of functionality when tackling any project. Not only did the sandstone patio provide easy access to a nearby conservatory, but this type of material also offers superior drainage qualities. The same holds true in regard to the new sod that was planted between the paving slabs and the garden fence. Although this garden was somewhat smaller when compared to some of our other projects, the final result was just as stunning as any task that we have accomplished in the past.
The Finished Product
One additional benefit of the approach that we decided to take involved the perception of additional space. The light tone of the sandstone slabs helped to offer an open-air quality to a garden that might have otherwise felt slightly cramped. Additionally, a new layer of sod provided a sense of organic beauty within decidedly urban settings.
