Detached House Block Paving Project in Accrington
Asphalt is one of the most common materials utilised when constructing a driveway. However, it is nonetheless a fact that asphalt will succumb to the elements over time even when properly maintained. There can also be instances when a homeowner wishes to adopt a slightly more unique aesthetic appeal. This is one of the reasons why block paving stones have become exceedingly popular in recent years. A project in Accrington will help to highlight this point, so let’s take a closer look at what we were able to provide for the client as well as the methods that were employed.
The Initial Assessment and Preparation
The success of any project will always be determined by the initial planning. This is why the professionals at Lake Stone paving work in tandem with the client from the very start. After an in-depth and hassle-free consultation, both parties decided that block paving stones represented the most viable solution.
We were also tasked with preparing the existing driveway for this new surface. Our team therefore removed the existing asphalt as well as any nearby debris that may have otherwise impacted the end result. Block paving stones also require an slightly sloped grade so that water can drain properly. This is why we added compacted gravel that was subsequently covered by a protective plastic sheet. A final layer of sand was then applied. This provided a firm and even base for the bricks themselves.
The Use of Quality Block Paving Stones
Similar to other properties that Lake Stone Paving has serviced in the past, the customer opted for a stunning and visually mesmerising herringbone pattern. This approach provides a decidedly personalised touch and it was also able to accentuate the exterior of the home. Every stone (including the peripheral borders) needed to be laid by hand in order to ensure accuracy; a nice artisanal touch which reflects the skill of our team members.
These stones and their borders were then complimented with functional elements such as drainage ports; helping to ensure that water will not accumulate during periods of heavy rain. As always, the customer was extremely pleased with the finished product and Lake Stone Paving was able to walk away with a great deal of professional satisfaction.
Please note that block paving is only one of the many services which our team can provide. Would you like to learn about the process? If so, please make it a point to contact us at a convenient time.
